Legally Required Training for Professional and Industrial Users of Diisocyanates

01/06/2023

Diisocyanates (polyurethane part Bs) are key building blocks of polyurethane systems, and as such, diisocyanates are crucial ingredients to making our lives more convenient, comfortable and sustainable. To ensure that workers can continue to handle diisocyanates safely, new training requirements will become mandatory for professional and industrial users from 24th August 2023.

The user of diisocyanates, either the employer of the user or the self-employed person, must complete and document the completion of the training. If you do not comply with these mandatory trainings, you will no longer be allowed to work with diisocyanates.

The isocyanate industry has been very proactive in promoting the safe use of diisocyanates and have produced a comprehensive range of training courses. More information, and details of the training courses available, can be found here on the Safe Use of Diisocyanates website: https://www.safeusediisocyanates.eu/.

We also recommend viewing the ISOAP website: https://www.isopa.org/ and the ALIPA website: http://www.alipa.org/ for more information. ISOPA is the European trade association for producers of aromatic diisocyanates and polyols, the main building blocks of polyurethanes. ALIPA is the European Aliphatic Isocyanates Producers Association. ISOPA and ALIPA work to promote the highest level of best practices in the distribution and use of diisocyanates and polyols in Europe and ensures that all stakeholders can easily access accurate and up-to-date information on these substances.
