The range of epoxy resins are divided into five main groupsThe standard filled systems are general purpose potting and encapsulation systems including the successful EP440x numbers (eg EP4400 & EP4401) and an excellent highly filled and flame retardant but low viscosity system EP4410. The thermally conductive materials employ innovative technology that allows us to produce materials with high thermal conductivity but a relatively low mix viscosity. The unfilled resins differ in liquid properties (such as cure times or viscosities) and also in cured properties, for instance, low dielectric loss, high dielectric strength, good chemical and temperature resistance, they can be hard or tough and flexible. Our one component adhesives are heat activated with modified properties and are usually used as adhesives in automotive applications where the excellent chemical and heat resistance is exploited. Specialist bespoke products are now offered for general usage. They include a ‘security’ invasion preventing resin system, a general purpose flexible encapsulation system and a low viscosity chemically resistant resin for sensors.
The range of polyurethane resins are divided into four groupsThe standard range is the starting point for most applications with the polyether/polyester chemistry allowing variations in liquid properties (viscosity, pot-life etc) and the cured properties (hardness, flammability, adhesion etc). The applications include PCB potting (PU7230 with a good cosmetic finish), cable jointing (PU7241 industry approved), transformer encapsulation (PU7270 tough abrasion resistant flame retardant) and the excellent PU730x series (UL V-O rated) for switches, sensors and encapsulation. The water resistant resins are produced from uniquely hydrophobic polyol and are formulated to add, for instance, flame retardancy. The PU7410 is an unusual variant with a lower mix viscosity than any other comparable material. All the products in the range retain flexibility down to –40 deg C and have excellent electrical properties including low dielectric loss. The re-enterable range can be clear and unfilled or filled and flame retardant. They are easily removed from delicate components, and have excellent thermal cycling properties, placing no stress on components at extreme low temperatures whilst protecting the electronics from damaging moisture etc. Applications included clam-shell cable jointing, control panel displays and sealing outdoor enclosures. The unfilled/low viscosity resins include the water clear and UV stable PU7101. All these products offer good mechanical properties. |
